for my birthday...

my birthday is coming up, in case you didn't know. i'm not usually one to make a list or really care what i get. i mostly care about being surrounded by the people i care about most. this year, i really want to do this. preferably with a smoldering member of the opposite sex. so, if you are a smoldering member of the opposite sex, or if you know of a smoldering member of the opposite sex...please. help a sister out.
magical
i mean...seriously. can you just imagine riding a ski lift with this view? it would be amazing.

thoughts on a tuesday afternoon

i feel like things are really starting to look up. i mean sure, i've been on like 1.5 dates in the last six months, which is not ideal, but you know what? it's ok. because my life is pretty darn good. pretty good indeed. here are a few of the things that are making my life so terribly awesome lately.
1) my family. they've always been amazing. but i've never been so close to my parents, sisters or cousins. my experiences have brought me closer to them. i'm so grateful for that. they are the funnest, most loving, supporting people you'll ever meet. i often joke that if i ever want to get a guy to be interested in me, i just need to bring them around my family and they'll be hooked. it's totally true. my family=amazing. no doubt about it.
2) my friends. both old and new. i feel like truly good friends are hard to come by. but i've been lucky enough to be blessed with a lot of them. i think god knew how much i'd need them in my life (you know who you are) i have friends from high school that call to check on me, or drop me messages on facebook. friends that are busy with their own lives, but still take time for me. i've strengthened many friendships through this whole experience as well, and that is something i will forever be grateful for. i'm making new friends in my ward. i actually hang out with people now! it's amazing what a difference it makes when you feel like you're part of something, you know?
3) guitar. i've discovered a talent i didn't even know i had. i had accepted the fact that molly was indeed the most talented member of our family and assumed that i just didn't have what it takes. but you know what? i do. i mean, i'm no jimmy page, but i can hold my own. i'm picking it up pretty fast, and it's been really fun to discover this little nugget of talent. i absolutely love playing. and it feels good to be learning something new. it keeps my mind working. i love it.
4) golf. i've also been taking golf lessons recently. golf is a sport that i've always loved, been OK at , but never wanted to spend the time/money to get better. i work right next to a golf course, so i decided to take advantage of that. i've had 6 lessons, and will only have one more. but i've learned so much, and improved quite a bit. i love golf, because you don't have to have another person to enjoy it with. i mean, it's fun with other people, but it's not necessary to have other people. it's something i can do alone (which from the looks of things, is how i'm going to be for quite a while :) ) golf is fun and relaxing. and you get to be outside. how could it not be great?
5) my ward. there are some pretty dang cool people in my ward. our leaders are amazing. we're always doing fun things, and i've really enjoyed getting to know people better and actually becoming part of the ward. the church in general has been such a huge source of happiness for me as of late. i don't know what i'd do without it.
6) my job. i've said it many times, and will continue to say it. i am the luckiest girl in the world to be working where i work. the people are great, i love what we do as a company (if you're interested in what we do, click here and watch the videos at the bottom of the screen). i feel like our leadership genuinely cares about their employees. we're like a 37 person family. i can't imagine going through what i've gone through over the past 6 months if i was working at my old company. i would probably be dead. no lie. of course, there are always little things about a job that can bug you, but on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the happiest...i'm seriously at like a 9.7. and that's pretty darn good if you ask me.
here's the deal. i was talking to a co-worker the other day about a few things. and i said this. and i truly believe it, and try my best to live it every day "if i'm going to be a divorced, single, 25 year old, then i'm going to be the best darn divorced, single, 25 year old you've ever seen" (you can add that to your list of favorite quotes if you'd like). seriously though. it's true. this is my situation, whether i like it or not. so i'm going to make the best of it. and become my best self (man that sentence sounded super cheesy). and you know what? because i'm making the best of it....i'm starting to like my situation. no, i don't want to be single forever. but for now, i think i'm just fine. (with that being said, i would not be opposed to going on a date or something....i dunno. if you know of anyone, send them my way!) i hope whatever your situation is, that you're doing your best to make the best of it. because attitude really is everything (cheesy again) when it comes to these matters.

weekend recap.

time has been flying by lately. i feel like i can't keep up! hope you all had a good weekend, mine was busy!
friday: ultimate frisbee as always. fridays at work are the best. everyday at work is the best, really. i'm a lucky gal to work where i do. friday after work i helped a girl in my ward move (just for a bit, cause i was headed to a softball game). idahomers lost. it was a bitter, bitter feeling. do you know how much i hate loosing? i hate it. a lot. we totally should have won our game, which makes the loss that much worse. after the game i drove up to idaho for some family reunion fun.
saturday: i got there at 1:00 AM saturday morning. went to bed at 2, woke up at 7, and then played in the family reunion golf tournament (i won $50 in the longest drive contest...it was sweet), then i jogged back to the family reunion (only about 2.5 miles), hung with the fam for a bit and drove back to salt lake. it was a short trip. here are a few pics.
hannah, denali, me
golf tourmament. gunder, me, and dusty.
nephew cuddles=the. best.

we had little pop guns at the reunion that the kids were playing with, and ayden just couldn't get enough. hannah pointed it at him jokingly and he played dead. i couldn't stop laughing. this kid is too cute.
saturday night i was house sitting for mike and dasha, who were in the hospital getting ready to have baby jacob. i took care of their puppies and held down the fort for them saturday and sunday night.
sunday: baby jacob arrived sunday  morning and he's adorable. sunday afternoon i had a wedding to attend, so i did that, then headed to the hospital to see baby, then i had dinner with marianne and her amazingly adorable parents. sunday=success. marianne stayed with me at mike and dasha's. we attempted to watch top gun, but there were too many flying scenes for us, so we watched something different. marianne fell asleep about 10 minutes into the movie, so when i say "we" watched it, i really mean "i" watched it alone :) pics from sunday:
lindsay and me
the beautiful bride
seriously can't get enough.
newborn babies are the best. period.
man, i have good looking friends.
it was a very busy, fun-filled weekend. best part was seeing the fam and getting to see baby jacob. there's just something about newborn babies that amazes me. plus, they smell good. and they're just perfect. i can't get enough of him.
i'll be posting a life update later this afternoon. 'til then!

weekend recap...a little late

time has gone so fast this past couple of weeks that i feel like i can barely keep up! here's a little recap of my weekend. i'll be posting later today or tomorrow something that is a little more "meaty".
friday: ultimate frisbee at work, as usual. i love that my company is so active. we get 12-14 people playing each time, and it's a lot of fun. friday night the idahomers had not one, but two games. it's tournament time, baby. our first game was a complete blowout. i think we won by like 12 runs or something. our second game...a little more intense. let's just say people had to apologize after for their behavior. idahomers came out on top, winning by one run. i thought we lost. shows how much i pay attention. my friend tara played with us, and it was a lot of fun! we play again this friday, and if we win that game we're in the championship. ya'll should come out and support us if you can. game's at 8:00. :)
we're legit
saturday: driving range with my friend sara. she's in my ward, and we are now golfing buddies. it was a lot of fun, even though my skills weren't exactly up to par. pun totally intended. afterwards i headed to annie's to play with the boys and do a little sun-bathing. saturday night my ward had an outdoor movie party and we watched the sandlot. one of my all time favorites. it was good times with good people. have i mentioned that i love my ward? i do.
a little somthin' from the sun-bathing sesh
sunday: church. it was great, as always. afterwards me and some people in the ward spent the afternoon in the park playing guitar, singing, and just talking. it was good times. went to ward prayer, could barely keep it together through a giggle fit (thanks to sara). then it was disney movie night. we watched robin hood...i had never seen it. i may or may not have fallen asleep, but that's beside the point.
me, tracy and liz. album cover?
all in all, i had a great weekend. i love that i'm starting to make friends and get more involved in my ward...but more on that later.

weekend recap

weekend recap. lots of photos. i don't arrange them all cute like other people, so just deal with it. :)
friday: ultimate frisbee at lunch. i almost dislocated my kneecap, and walked around looking like i had 2 kneeecaps for a while. i dove for the frisbee and did a bit of damage. totally worth it. the picture doesn't look bad...it looked a lot worse in person.
knee injury...ick.
idahomers won yet another softball game. tournament starts next week. wish us luck! after our game we went to annie's to roast mallows and visit. marianne was with me. it was fun. then we headed to slc and hung out with people there before heading to bed at 2:00 am (these late nights are killing me).
saturday: suntanning in annie's backyard. cause, well...that's just what we do. i had a ward bbq, which was rather enjoyable. spent a lot of time with my madre. watched the nba game. booooo heat. prepared my talk (i did this all week, and i think the photo was actually from thursday, but who's keeping track?)
preparation...not procrastination
sunday: spoke in church. i think it went pretty well. i always feel intimidated when i speak at church. i feel like people are going to think i'm stupid or judge me, but i think it was better than i was expecting. i'll keep telling myself that anyway. i'm relieved to be done. after church we spent the afternoon at annies...laying in the backyard talking about gospel topics, playing the guitar, and just visiting. i love being able to spend time with my mom and cousins. went to ward prayer. went to disney movie night. all in all....it was a good sunday

matchy matchy green squared.
i'm still trying to decide what to do when my lease is up in august. a big part of me wants to move to slc, but i also want to stay in provo. especially now that i'm making more friends in my ward and getting more involved. time is running out though, and i need to make my decision soon-ish. ugh. i hate being a grownup sometimes. i have a busy week planned. looking forward to spending a lot of time with family and playing lots of softball. also, i'm hoping dasha will have her baby...i can't wait to meet that little nugget :)
oh, and for those of you inquiring about my hair...i didn't change it much. just trimmed it up a bit. continuing the growing out process that i despise so much.

long or short?

i'm gettin' my hair did today. i'm torn between growing it out, keeping it about the same, and going short again. i need your opinions! i loved the pixie cut i had. i really like the length it is now, and i'm sure i would like it long too...oh to be able to wear it in a pony tail! what do you think?
short
now-medium
long

let me know what you think! i hate making these decisions on my own :)
