this & that

 like i said before...this summer has been the best yet. i'm making some great memories. and even better friends. i'm so glad that i'm finally settling in. the people in my ward are seriously some of the best people i've ever met. and i'm so glad to call them my friends. i'm looking forward to living here for another year.

picture overload, i know. i guess i need to work on being a little more consistent with my blogging. i also need to work on being more consistent with things like eating dinner and sleeping. i feel like i have so many time commitments that i don't have time to do the basics. plus, i don't want to miss out on anything exciting. i'm a party animal, hello!

aahhhh ruuuuu baaaaaa.

i've been doing some pretty fun things this summer. i'm having more fun that i've had in such a long time. and i'm so happy! i love feeling like myself again. i've always been a happy person, and for a while there, that person kind of disappeared. but i'm back! and loving it. 

before aruba, i had a stellar birthday party. all the people i love most were in attendance. well, most of them. dad wasn't there, and molls was too busy wooing the men at the dude ranch. but it was still so great! granny cakes was here, and i can't tell you how much i love that woman. she is amazing. i got to spend some time with my aunt tess, who i haven't seen in years, and of course my beautiful mama and sister hannah...and a whole slew of cousins and friends. they made my birthday special. my family is the best. i seriously don't know where i'd be without them. 

a couple days after my birthday i was aruba bound. angela and i had been looking forward to this trip for quite a while, and it did not disappoint. it was so relaxing. i slept a lot, which is good...because i'm pretty sure i'm an insomniac or something. i got a killer tan, and i had a lot of time to think. it was good for me to get away for a week and just have some time to myself to collect my thoughts and regroup. these are some of my favorite pictures from the trip.

i had so much fun with angela. we are both pretty easy going individuals, so i think that helped a lot. we ate some delicious food, did a lot of good people watching, and most of all just enjoyed the beauty. not our beauty, the beauty of aruba :)

it's been almost 20 days since i last blogged. what the? seriously....time has been flying by this summer. it's crazy. but, i think that's also good. it means i've been doing a lot to keep busy! i've probably had one of the funnest summers of my life so far. it's crazy to me how happy i am right now. i didn't think it was possible for me to be this happy so soon. but you know what? it feels good. so good. 

i have a lot to update ya'll on. i'll have to do it in segments...otherwise you're going to get a blog post that will take 15 hours to get through. 

i'll do an aruba post, an idaho post, a work post, and a summer overview post. just give me some time. work has been nuts, so my blogging has fallen by the wayside.

farewell, utah...hello aruba

tonight at 12:55 am (so i guess that's technically tomorrow morning...but whatever), i will be boarding a flight with my friend angela and heading to the caribbean. aruba. i know, i know, why on earth would i want to leave provo?! 

i've been to aruba before. when i was a senior in high school. i loved it, and i'm sure i'll love it this time as well. things i'm looking forward to while there: 

relaxing.

getting a killer suntan.

watching wind-surfing competitions.

possibly learning to wind surf.

snorkeling.

laying on the beach.

swimming in the ocean (even though i'm deathly afraid of it).

taking a break from "life".

the sun.

being in a place that doesn't smell like wildfire.

i feel like aruba is the perfect place for me to go and clear my head. forget about everything that's happened over the past 7 months. rejuvenate. think. 

who knows...maybe i'll come home with a boyfriend. i mean, i doubt it...but you never know. my cousin was talking to me the other day about my trip. our conversation went like this:

megan: i leave for aruba on friday.

jp: nice. you should pick up some hot men while you're down there.

megan: i wish.

jp: remember to dress slightly immodestly, and you're good to go.

wise words. and who knew that was the answer? pretty simple. string bikini here i come (ha. right). 

anyway...i'll be taking a little hiatus, so probably won't be blogging from there...but if you're lucky you might get some little nuggets. be prepared for some awesome pictures when i get back!

weekend recap.

what a weekend. i spent a total of 11.5 hours in the car on saturday. not only was i in the car...i was in the 3rd row of the car. the small row with no leg room. it was fantastic. really, though, it was totally worth it. anyway...let's get this show on the road, shall we?

friday: softball game. we lost. idahomers finished 3rd in the league. not good enough. we're putting a team together for the fall. and we're going to stack it. provo city rec league, be prepared. friday night i hung out with friends from the ward-rich, dan and tracy. we played super nintendo. it was pretty awesome.

saturday: left provo at 8:00 am for our journey to jackson hole. you know how i always brag about my awesome family? well, prepare yourself for more. 6 women, one baby. the honda pilot. 6 diet cokes, the open road...and 5.5 hours of driving time (one way), bugles, corn nuts, chocolate and tortilla chips. we know how to do road trips. throw in a few good songs, some freestyle rapping, car dancing and singing, and you've got yourself a good time. we had so much fun on the drive. i love being with the gals in my fam. they are the best. here are some pics from our trip:

while in jackson hole we did a little shopping, spent 2 hours at urgent care with molly (she has bronchitis) and then enjoyed the beauty of the mountains at the bar t 5 dude ranch. we rode in wagon trains, saw a little show and had dinner, and then came back down. it was so much fun, and so awesome to see molly. she's a pretty darn cute cowgirl. we love her. we headed home that night, and i got back to my apartment at 3:45 am. i still haven't caught up on sleep. that trip is probably going to be one of my favorite memories from this year. i'm so glad i went. 

sunday: church, time with the fam, and a nice evening stroll before i went to bed.

such a busy weekend. lots of time in the car. my legs are still jumpy. i love spending quality time with the fam. 

yesterday my friend tracy threw me a birthday party. i'll blog about that later. it was epic. tomorrow is my b-day and i'm looking forward to spending time with my family. hope you all have a great weekend and 4th of july!
