my friend sent this to me today, i couldn't stop laughing. i no longer feel like this now that i have a job that i love, but i completely understand why she feels this way.
how was everyone's weekend? mine was pretty decent. here's a little recap of the happenings.
friday: stache-a-palooza/rockband friday at work. probably the funnest day of work to date. you should have seen some of the ridiculous costumes people showed up in. i didn't get as many pictures as i would like, but here are a few. and a video for your viewing pleasure. my work is awesome.

friday night i went to the marsh valley alumni basketball tournament to watch my brother in law and some of my old friends play. it was fun. it's always weird going back home...even more weird now that i've gone through the big D. ready for a special edition of "awkward conversations"? this one's a doosy.
it is a conversation between myself and the mom of a guy i used to date. (for identity protection, we're going to call her cindy). i could tell by the way she was talking to me that she already knew i was divorced, but still wanted to get as much dirt as possible. here you go:
cindy: megan! how are you doing? it's so good to see you!
me: i'm good, it's good to see you too (not)
cindy: what are you up to these days? still living in utah?
me: yes, i just moved to provo and i'm working for a marketing company in lehi
cindy: that's great. you're married right? (ha)
me: no, we actually got divorced
cindy: (making her best attempt at acting like she's in complete shock) i had no idea! oh my gosh, that's crazy!
me: yeah, it is. but it's ok
cindy: so when did it all go down?
me: well, he told me he wanted a divorce in january, and it was final in february
cindy: wait, HE asked for the divorce?
me: yes
cindy: wow, how does it feel to have someone tell you that?
me: .......................................... not good. thanks for asking
what the? why would you ask someone that? i thought my sister was going to punch her. it's ok though, i've learned to not get offended when people say stupid things. a lot of the time they don't mean it the way it sounds. i'm not exactly sure HOW she meant that to sound, but we'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

later that night i hung out with some old friends that i haven't seen in a long time, it was great to see them and get caught up on everyone's life.
saturday: i spent most of the day babysitting my adorable nephew. i can't even explain how much i love this kid. we spent a majority of the morning cuddling on the couch (he slept until 10:30!) i'm trying to teach him how to say my name. he struggles a bit, but i think he's getting there!
| try to focus on his cuteness, not the fact that i have zero makeup on |
| it's a rough life. |
saturday night i went on a date with a kid i knew in high school. we played miniature golf (i lost. it was a tough pill to swallow, but i handled it like a champ), watched some basketball, and talked a lot. it was really fun. i think it's good to go on dates with people i already know...it's not as awkward.
sunday: watched a lot of basketball, visited with my sisters, and played with the nephew.

we received the sad news that the mom of our friends had passed away. she wasn't only their mom, but she was also my Young Women's President all through high school, as well as my little sisters' softball coach. she was an amazing woman, and is going to be greatly missed by everyone in the community. my thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
i went to ward stare prayer last night, where it was announced that i'm currently in 1st place in our ward march madness bracket challenge. that's right. represent.
this was a long post. if you made it to the end, congratulations. lots going on this week. should be good!

A fun, busy weekend! Ayden is a cutie!!!
ReplyDeleteOK first of all, that pic of you posing in your led zepplin shirt with the stache is hilarious. And that lady does sound like she needs to be punched in the face. Good grief. And I'm proud of you for still being in first place- I'm holding strong at 71st. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteYeah I bet "Cindy" had no idea you were divorced since she had to ask if you were married. GAH!!! I'm glad you had a fun weekend though. I can't wait to get back to MV and have people ask me all sorts of awkward questions...it's gonna be great hahahaha!!!!
