sleep deprivation and such

first of all...this week has been completely nuts. part of me is thinking i have too many extracurricular activities going on. but i don't think that's bad. it's good to stay busy, right? right.
monday i was at an appointment until almost 7, then went to dinner at my aunt and uncle's house. i saw my cousin sara for the first time in 3 1/2 years. that's a sin, if you ask me. it's weird...my cousins on my mom's side are all pretty much like brothers and sisters to me. i know them well. and i feel bad that it's not like that on my dad's side...i mean, really. i only have 4 cousins on my dad's side, it should be easy. so i'm trying to correct that problem. anyhow...tuesday i had guitar lessons, which i'm still rocking at, in case you were wondering. then the big game. jazz vs. suns. for the 8th seed. the atmosphere at the game was so fun. and we won. WE WON! i literally couldn't talk after the game. it was amazing! and i am not joking when i say i was more sweaty and smelly after that game than i am after a workout. i have issues. for those of you keeping track, that was the 3rd game i attended in 7 days. i wish i could buy season tickets. i need to marry a sugar daddy. ha.

confetti!
last night i had a softball game up in salt lake. we lost. i hate losing. you didn't know that, did you? :) afterwards i got to go spend some time with mike and dasha, and see their new kitchen...which looks fab. i'm a bit jealous. dash and i hit up farr's fresh for some salty caramel and coconut ice cream. people, it's heaven in a bowl. seriously. try it. you won't regret it. well, you might...because after you have it once you'll want to go back every day. it's that good.
tonight i finally get a night of rest and relaxation, which i'm looking forward to. i missed tamale tuesday because of the jazz game, so i might just convert today into tamale thursday. yeah, i think i'll do that. done. it's tamale thursday!
tomorrow we've got some fun activities going on at work, i have to move my piano, and i have a softball game. i know we'll win tomorrow. the team i play with on fridays is better than my wednesday team :) plus, they're all mostly family, so you know... being awesome runs in our blood.
i don't know if you guys know this, but i love to sleep. i mean, i'm not lazy, but i love waking up after a good night's rest. you want to know how much i've been sleeping as of late? well, it's not much. since januray, i've probably been averaging about 4 hours a night. and that's not 4 solid hours. that's being up until 2, waking up at 3:30, falling back asleep, waking up at 5...you get where i'm going with this, right? the frustrating thing is that i'm exhausted. i'm so tired, but my body is not allowing me to sleep. i've tried everything...melatonin, tylenol pm, benadryl, ambien. sometimes i try mixing a cocktail of sleeping magic. and nothing. nada. frustrating, right? well. i think my body is finally catching up with it's exhaustion. the night before last when i got home from the basketball game (at 1:00 am) i turned arrested development on on my laptop while i put some clean clothes away. i sat on my bed to do something, and the next thing i knew, it was 7:30 am. what?! i slept all through the night. freak accident? no. last night, i went to bed at midnight, and woke up at 8:45 this morning. i didn't get to work until 9:30 (i know, i'm pretty much a jedi when it comes to getting ready in the mornings) i realize that i was 30 minutes late to work. but you know what? i slept all through the night. so i'm going to go ahead and call that a victory. here's hoping these last two nights weren't just a fluke. i'm looking forward to getting some much needed rest.
in other random news...we bought a lawn chair for my office the other day. this way when i have visitors, people will have a place to sit. i'll leave you with this image of my dear friend angela modeling the awesomeness of this lawn chair.

have a fantastic thursday!

  1. OUR office. just because I am only there one day does not mean you don't have to share. Have you hung our mural yet?

  2. I love that you and Mare made vaJazzle t-shirts. I think that is one of the greatest ideas we have ever had. And that salted caramel ice cream really is heaven in a bowl.
